https://jffk.unram.ac.id/index.php/indra/article/view/361

This community service discusses stunting, a problem of stunted child growth due to chronic malnutrition, especially in the West Nusa Tenggara region of Indonesia. Stunting causes impaired growth in children, with boys growing much less than they should. This condition is often caused by a lack of nutritional knowledge among pregnant women and children, as well as an unbalanced diet. The impact of stunting includes physical and cognitive impairment, increased risk of chronic disease, and lower adult productivity. Stunting prevention requires a holistic approach involving nutrition, health, sanitation and education, as well as active participation from the government, community and family. An intervention program was implemented in Bayan, North Lombok, involving participatory discussions with various community members to improve understanding and prevention of stunting. The PAR method was used in the implementation of the activities, which involved initial mapping, implementation, and evaluation. The results showed an increase in the community's understanding of stunting and its prevention measures. The program highlights the importance of community empowerment in stunting prevention to improve children's quality of life.
Bidari Andaru WidhiZainudin AbdussamadAbdul MuhidTitik Ceriyani MiswatyIka YulianaElyakim Nova Supriyedi PattySri Astuti IriyaniMarlina Marlina

https://jffk.unram.ac.id/index.php/indra/article/view/452

Based on BPS (2022) data, healthcare facilities in Mendo Barat District are very limited. There is only 1 polyclinic, 2 public health centers, and 2 pharmacies, making it difficult for some residents in remote areas to access available healthcare services. This situation encourages the community to engage in self-medication by purchasing antibiotics from general stores rather than seeking treatment at healthcare facilities. In Petaling Village, many people still use antibiotics freely and store them at home because they stop taking antibiotics when they feel better, which can increase cases of resistance. According to research by Sari & Purba (2024) on antibiotic usage knowledge using leaflet media, the difference between pretest and posttest scores in Petaling Village was not very significant, increasing from 54% to 66%. The partners for this activity are Petaling Village, Mendo Barat District, Bangka Regency. The activity was carried out on June 6th, 2024. The method used was a community empowerment education model to improve skills in selecting medications, known as the Active Learning Method (CBIA), utilizing booklets. The study results showed a significant difference in knowledge before and after providing antibiotic education using booklets, with a p-value of 0.001 > 0.05.
Lana SariZahriah ZahriahDela LanayaRatih Puspita Kusumadewi Purba

Energy drinks have become increasingly popular recently, especially among children and adolescents. According to the survey, adolescents are the largest consumers of energy drinks. Due to the lack of knowledge among parents and the public regarding the adverse effects of energy drinks, supervision of energy drink consumption among children and adolescents is uncontrolled. Therefore, education for children and adolescents needs to be done regularly. This activity was carried out at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Ternate City. The targets of this activity are students in grades VII, VIII, and IX. The stages in implementing this activity consist of determining the activity's location, observing the activity's location, planning the program, preparing the material, implementing the activity, and evaluating it. Activities were carried out through counseling (lectures and discussions) about the adverse effects of energy drinks on children and adolescents. The activities were evaluated using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results showed that students' understanding of the counseling material increased significantly (P < 0.000) with average pre-test and post-test scores, 30.95 ± 15.05 and 61.43 ± 18.05, respectively.
Abulkhair AbdullahMuhammad Zulfian A. https://jffk.unram.ac.id/index.php/indra/article/view/552

Adolescents go through a phase of self-discovery, which sparks a strong sense of curiosity, a desire to stand out, and the need to be acknowledged for their presence. However, at the same time, they face emotional instability, making them more susceptible to peer influence and prone to prioritizing group conformity. One of the problems that is very prone to occur in adolescence is reproductive health problems such as sexuality or free sex, HIV/AIDS and drugs, if you are constantly tempted and in a very free condition, of course one day you will also be tempted to do it. The purpose of the service is to carry out cadre assistance using a module on reproductive health. This service activity is a continuation of the previous activity that formed adolescent health cadres, so that they are more optimally equipped and assisted by using modules to further improve their reproductive health behavior. The method used is to provide assistance as a form of empowerment for youth cadres who have been formed. The target number is 30 students as adolescent health cadres who have been selected. Assistance is carried out by coaching activities carried out through communication, information, and education, community empowerment, technical guidance, and supervision.
Kustin KustinYuni Handayani

https://jffk.unram.ac.id/index.php/indra/article/view/466

Stroke is one of the diseases that causes the highest rates of death and disability in the world, including in Indonesia. This condition is often caused by preventable risk factors, such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, and unhealthy lifestyles. However, the low level of public understanding regarding risk factors and early symptoms of stroke has led to a high incidence of strokes that are not properly treated. Therefore, this community service activity aims to provide education on stroke prevention, recognizing early symptoms, and the importance of immediate treatment This activity was conducted through community health education sessions, basic health screenings such as blood pressure and blood sugar tests, and a campaign on the importance of a healthy lifestyle. The education focused on increasing public awareness of stroke warning signs and understanding stroke prevention and management. The results of this activity showed an improvement in the community's understanding of stroke risk factors and preventive actions that can be taken, as evidenced by pre-test and post-test results, which indicated a difference in knowledge before and after the activity. From the results of the community service participant characteristics, 76.3% were female, and the majority of participants fell into the young elderly category, aged between 66-74 years, accounting for 50.8%. The results of self-administered health tests showed that 28% of participants had normal levels, 18.6% had uric acid levels above normal, 5.1% had cholesterol levels above normal, and 6.8% had blood sugar levels above normal (prediabetes and diabetes). Blood pressure issues were found in 42.4% of participants, 84.7% were categorized as overweight according to their BMI, 67.8% had low muscle mass, 86.4% had high-risk visceral fat, 91.5% had high body fat, and 84.7% showed abnormalities in Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and body age.
Nafisah IsnawatiKhrisna Agung C.April NurainiHilda Khoirun N.

https://jffk.unram.ac.id/index.php/indra/article/view/461

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a major public health issue in Indonesia, particularly in areas like Gemawang Village, Temanggung Regency. Chemical insecticides commonly used for mosquito control pose health and environmental risks, necessitating safer alternatives. This study aimed to empower the local community with knowledge and skills to produce a natural mosquito repellent spray using lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), which contains citronella and geraniol known for their mosquito-repelling properties. Through a three-month community engagement program, residents participated in educational sessions, practical demonstrations, and were provided with materials to create the spray using lemongrass and 70% ethanol. A total of 100 participants showed a 30% increase in knowledge based on pre-test and post-test results. Additionally, 80% of participants reported regular use of the spray, and 70% observed a decrease in mosquito presence. While participants found the method practical and materials accessible, some noted reduced spray effectiveness over time, indicating a need for improved formulation. This community-based approach not only promoted an eco-friendly alternative to chemical insecticides but also enhanced local capacity for disease prevention. The findings suggest that such participatory programs can contribute significantly to sustainable dengue vector control in endemic areas.
Farezki MuhamadMuhammad Adiv Anas NurYeni Aqnes KhomsianaSyakila Ana Sajidah Putri NoviaDewi CitrawatiFaqihana Ananda Qori’nurrahmanHelya Cholifatul UlfaMohammad UlinuhaAmanda Fatma Putri DismaNanda Yulia SasmitaNia AdillaElsa Wahyu AlfianaAyu SetyaningsihYuniar HerlyanaZahra KahayaniAhmad Ilham

A major health concern for women is breast cancer, which is the most common cause of death in this population and delayed diagnosis is a major contributor to this. This delay often arises from a lack of public understanding about breast cancer and its potential for harm. However, performing regular breast self-exams (BSE) offers a method for early identification. Therefore, this community service aims to socialize the BSE method to The Family Welfare Program (PKK) mothers in Kalisegoro Urban Village. The method used in this socialization process uses direct counseling. This education seeks to increase knowledge and promote the regular use of the BSE method. This community service is descriptive community service and gathering the data through an evaluation questionnaire administered after the activity's completion. A number of respondents in this community service were residents of Kalisegoro Urban Village. These results show that the service team effectively communicated information about the early detection of breast cancer, and the participants responded positively to it.
Willy Tirza EdenAnnisa Aulia SavitriNeli Syahida Ni`maRanita RahmaniarDante Alighiri
